Hello
I’m Yun (any pronoun).

I’m interested in interweaving fragments of family history, cultural heritage, and archival text, processing and reimagining the material through my feeling queer self. My work is in decolonizing dance and performance through performing fictions, collaborations, and channeling, rooted in movement methods influenced by chreographer and Flying Low teacher Young-Cool Park and dancers of Trust Dance Theatre. Studying with postcolonial scholar Helen J.S. Lee and researchers of the Asian diaspora at Yonsei Universtiy, Underwood International College provided references/grounds for my current practice/values.

Currently I’m performing in the intersection of  dance and visual arts. In 2024, I was a part of Su-Mi Jang’s cast in Social Sensorial Collectiveness that premiered at Frieze Live. In 2025, I perform in Young In Hong’s Five Acts at Art Sonje Center dancing as a medium for souls of women who played key roles in Korean Indepenence Movement and modern labor activism. My choreographic work will be presented by the Goat Farm Center for the Arts in dialogue with works by visual artist Gyun Hur, Movement Research at Judson Church, School of Contemporary Dance and Thought, and What's a Dancework in Seoul.

In 2023, Arts Council Korea gave me a scholarship to participate in danceWEB in the frame of ImpulsTanz Festival. Since then, I have relocated to the US as a teaching fellow at Five Colleges Consortium in Dance, where I taught classes in Advanced Composition, Contact Improvisation, and movement classes focused on somatics and conditioning. I’m a MFA candidate in Choreography at California Institute of the Arts as of 2025...
