Hello,
I’m Yun.
I perform and make work in the intersection of dance and visual arts. In 2024, I was a part of Su-Mi Jang’s cast in Social Sensorial Collectiveness that premiered at Frieze Live. In 2025, I will be performing in Young In Hong’s Five Acts at Art Sonje Center.
I studied with Helen J.S. Lee at Underwood International College, Yonsei University (BA, Comparative Literature), while training in Contemporary Dance and Improvisation at Trust Dance Theatre. My teachers are Hyeong-hee Kim, Kwon Yejin, Young-Cool Park, among other influences.
In 2023, Arts Council Korea gave me a scholarship to participate in danceWEB in the frame of ImpulsTanz Festival. Since then, I have relocated to the US as a MFA candidate and teaching fellow at Smith College, where I design and teach classes in Advanced Composition and Contact Improvisation in the Five Colleges Dance Department.
As a choreographer, I’m interested in interweaving fragments of family history, cultural heritage, and archival text, processing and reimagining the material with feeling bodies through a postcolonial, queer, feminist lens.
In 2025, I will be presenting works in progress at Movement Research at Judson Church, School of Contemporary Dance and Thought, The Goat Farm Arts Center in the context of Gyun Hur’s project, and What's a Dancework in Seoul.
The work is in the body, in the ancestry, in the breathing. It’s a question mark, a capsule of a lifetime, a trail—
